Partnership will enhance emergency coverage across the county

Greenville, NC – Working together with elected officials and leaders from Hyde County, the Vidant Health Foundation today announced it will augment EMS services in the county by providing a $250,000 grant-in-aid to upgrade two medical emergency transport vehicles.

“The Vidant Health Foundation’s grant-in-aid extends our partnership with local leaders as we work together to find sustainable and affordable solutions to health care delivery in the region,” said Dr. David Herman, president and CEO of Vidant Health. “All of the Foundation’s partnerships, no matter how big or small, make a difference in the lives of the people of eastern North Carolina.

The mission of Vidant Health Foundation is to develop relationships and secure financial resources to support the health and wellness services, programs and projects of Vidant Health hospitals and the counties they serve. The foundation includes partnerships with foundations at Vidant Medical Center and several community hospitals.

“This grant in-aid from the Vidant Health Foundation will help Hyde County fill in the pieces of urgent and emergent health care in one of North Carolina’s largest counties by acreage, but most rural by population,” said County Manager, Bill Rich. “Modernizing our vehicles means our county EMS personnel will have the latest technology for those critical care patients in need.”

Besides the grant-in-aid, Vidant Health is moving forward with the construction of a new 24/7 state-of-the art multispecialty care clinic with more than 10,000 square feet that will serve the people in eastern Beaufort and Hyde counties. Once the current facility closes, patients will receive care 24 hours-a-day, seven days a week at Vidant Family Medicine-Belhaven located on Haslin St. Services will also be available at the other physician practices located on Allen St. and Water St. As always, Vidant Health will provide urgent and emergent care services regardless of ability to pay. For those with the ability to pay, we will ask for a partial payment at the time of service.
