Vidant Health Governing Board

Vidant Health serves 29 counties and more than 1.4 million people through an extensive regional network. The system includes hospitals, home health agencies, physician practices and other partners. Its combined operations include more than $1.4 billion dollars in total revenues, $1.3 billion in assets, more than 9,000 full time equivalent employees and 1,500 licensed beds.

The governing board of Vidant Health sets the policies that govern the operation and direction of Vidant Health, Vidant Medical Center and its subsidiaries. Members of the governing board meet monthly and are responsible for the articulation of its mission and values, the protection of assets and the quality of services. They serve voluntarily and without pay.

The governing board acts on behalf of the community, providing ideas for new programs and supporting existing ones. The members are charged with bringing the voice of the community to the health care system and, in turn, telling the corporation's story in the community.

Members of the governing board are chosen for their management experience and their standing as community leaders. They are chosen by the UNC Board of Governors and Pitt County Commissioners for a term of 5 years, not to exceed two consecutive terms.
