Being physically active is one of the best things you can do for your health. It is a key part of preventing diabetes or maintaining and losing weight.

You’ll get benefits, even if your activities aren’t strenuous. You will burn calories and have more energy. Some ways that you can be more active throughout the day include:

  • Walk instead of drive
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator
  • Clean your house and work in the yard
  • Choose a parking spot away from the entrance of the store
  • Walk down every aisle of the grocery store
  • Walk in place or stretch while you watch TV
  • Get up from your desk and take a lap around the office once each hour while you are at work
