Medications after kidney transplantation

You will take many medications after your surgery. Each medicine is taken for a different reason, and all of them are important to your recovery and health. The transplant coordinator will help you understand the purpose of each medicine. You will take the most number of medications during the first year after transplant. Some of the medications will have to be taken for the rest of your life.

It’s important to always take your medications as prescribed and follow the medication safety guidelines listed on this website. Please contact a pharmacist or your transplant coordinator if you have specific questions about medication.
