The physicians and clinical providers with Vidant Health diagnose and treat surgical diseases of the complete nervous system — brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Innovative techniques, coupled with years of experience and dedication, yield skill, knowledge and the best possible patient care.
Vidant’s neurology team includes experts in the treatment of neurological disorders, including chronic headache, cerebral palsy, stroke, seizure disorders like epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, peripheral neuropathies, muscle diseases and tumors of the brain and spine.
We are working to make neurology services more accessible, with a number of new neurologists arriving in Greenville over the next few months including specialists in headache, epilepsy and other conditions.
Many neurological conditions are extremely difficult to diagnose. Neurologists at Vidant Health have access to the most up-to-date technology to assist them in making your diagnosis.
Whatever your diagnosis, our treatment goal is the same. We want to help you live the fullest life possible, free from debilitating symptoms, pain and other side effects caused by neurological disorders.

Headache is very common and collectively headache disorders are among the most common of the nervous system disorders. Headache affects people of all ages, races and socioeconomic status, but is more common in women. Some headaches are extremely debilitating and have significant impact on an individual’s quality of life. Only a small portion of headache disorders require specialist input. The vast majority can be effectively treated by a primary care physician with correct clinical diagnosis requiring no special investigation. Primary headache disorders – migraine, tension headache and cluster headache – constitute nearly 98% of all headaches.
If headache symptoms persist your primary care physician may refer you to a neurologist for specialized care.
A seizure is a sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain. It can cause changes in your behavior, movements or feelings, and in levels of consciousness. Vidant has fellowship trained epilepsy specialists available to those needing care for seizure disorders.
