Hospice is a philosophy of care, focused on comfort and quality of life.
Hospice care isn’t about dying. It’s about living and enhancing the quality and comfort of life remaining. The focus of hospice care is on caring, not curing, and care is for the individual, not the disease.
The Vidant Health Hospice team provides care and support for patients with a limited life expectancy. Vidant’s services are family-centered — we include the patient and family in all we do in order to meet your medical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.
Hospice is not about a place, but a philosophy of care. Whenever possible and preferred, hospice care happens in the patient’s home. For those requiring a higher level of care, inpatient hospice services are available at The Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice in Greenville as well as any of our Vidant hospitals. Your hospice case manager will work with you and your family to identify the best care setting for your needs.
Why Vidant Hospice?
Vidant Health provides hospice services in 19 counties across eastern North Carolina with offices in Greenville, Kenansville and Ahoskie and an inpatient facility in Greenville. Registered nurses are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
Our services include skilled nursing, social work, respite care, bereavement care, palliative care, psychiatric nursing, dietary services, pastoral support, tele-homecare, and physical, occupational and speech therapies.
The hospice team works with primary caregivers to make sure the family’s needs are also addressed. When a patient passes away, our bereavement team provides one-on-one counseling as needed and desired, and maintains contact with the family for the forthcoming year.
