When to Visit the Emergency Department

Knowing when to visit the emergency department (ED) versus when to use other quality care options from Vidant is half the battle. If you are experiencing any of the following, seek emergency medical care at your closest Vidant emergency room or call 9-1-1:

  • Drug/alcohol overdose
  • Poisoning
  • Seizure
  • Serious burns

  • Stroke
  • Sudden dizziness
  • Trouble breathing

When to Visit Vidant Immediate Care

If you are experiencing an illness or injury that is not life-threatening — but shouldn’t wait for a scheduled appointment with your primary care provider, immediate (or urgent) care may be the answer.
