Vidant serves 29 counties across eastern North Carolina, totaling over 1.4 million residents and representing 14 percent of the region’s population. The eight Vidant hospital locations are able to reach this patient population through research.

Federal, state, industry and non-profit partnerships are crucial elements to the success of research activity at Vidant. We have an expert team of research nurse specialists and clinical coordinators who support our researchers. Additionally, our dedicated start-up team maintains a 30-day turnaround time for opening new studies. Partnering with your team will help us bring the best care to patients across eastern North Carolina.

If you would like to share information about a new clinical trial, we have a number of patient populations that may fit your interest, including heart failure, oncology, GI, urology and more. For more information, please contact us via email at [email protected].

Vidant often collaborates with local, national and international organizations on initiatives that enable us to improve the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina. To that end, as our resources allow, we provide letters of support/commitment outlining our intent to partner with the applicant agency/organization on patient- and mission-supportive initiatives.

The process for securing a letter of support/commitment from Vidant Health is detailed below.

Request Submission

Requests for letters of support/commitment should be submitted to the Vidant Health Center for Research and Grants, at [email protected] or 252-847-1177. Additionally, if the requested letter contains research components or it’s for a research study, please copy [email protected] on the email. Your request may be submitted by your agency/organization or your primary Vidant Health contact for the proposed project. Required components include:

  • Due date for the letter
  • Proposal/application due date
  • Name of the project
  • Name of the agency the letter is going to
  • Vidant Health contact name, department and phone number
  • Abstract/summary of the proposed project and/or letter of support/commitment draft detailing what’s expected from Vidant Health
  • Amount to be paid to Vidant Health for the proposed work/project, if applicable

Processing Time

Allow 5 to 10 business days for the review and signature process. If your turn-around time is less than 5 to 10 business days, it may not be possible to honor your request.

Only individuals authorized to commit the organization and/or its resources are permitted to sign the letter of support/commitment. The determination of the appropriate signature is made by the Vidant Health Legal Department.

All letters are returned to the requestor via email and interoffice or the U.S. Postal Service once review and signature are completed.
