Why we do what we do.

ECU Health nurses work incredibly hard each and every day to provide the highest level of care and compassion to every patient. You are their top priority. Nurses here have a clear view of the true meaning of patient-centered care, an approach that considers the needs of the individual, their families and the community.

Feel confident knowing that all ECU Health nurses share the following attributes: person-centered caring, collaboration, critical thinking, research-based practice skills and a holistic approach to health.

The ECU Health Nursing Professional Practice Model is based on Dr. Kristen Swanson’s Theory of Caring and anchored by the ECU Health values. This model provides nurses at ECU Health principles for daily care of patients and interaction with team members. Patients and families are at the heart of all we do and caring is the work we do.
