Our childbirth class offers instruction on the labor and delivery process. Topics discussed during this session include the labor process, hospital birth plans, when to contact medical providers, breathing techniques, medication, self-care, and methods of childbirth. A tour is also included.
This course covers a variety of topics about basic baby care including holding, feeding, diapering, bathing, umbilical cord care, safety, vaccinations, and more. Hands-on practice is a major focus of this class. Practical advice and simple solutions to common problems are covered as well as when to call the doctor.
Free breast cancer screenings for women age 40-49. You may qualify if you live in Pitt County, do not have insurance, meet income eligibility and it has been over a year since your last mammogram. Appointments are required.
Participants will have a chance to discuss stroke topics, attend a movie night related to stroke events and stroke survivors will also have a chance to plan events. Refreshments will be provided.
Our breastfeeding classes at Vidant Medical Center offer basic instruction on how to breastfeed your baby. We discuss the importance of skin to skin and breastfeeding within the first hour of birth, practices related to breastfeeding in the early days postpartum period, and breastfeeding and returning to work. We have lactation specialists available 7 days per week and offer free outpatient one on one consults in our Maternal Expressions store.
Our maternity welcome session provides a tour of our facility and an overview of our services.
