    Listen to your heart

Pop quiz! What's the number one killer of women in the United States? If you answered heart disease, you are right. Heart disease claims more lives than all forms of cancer combined. But the good news is that you can take steps now to improve your heart health and prevent this deadly disease from happening to you and the women you love.

Vidant Health, East Carolina Heart Institute and our physician partners are working together to offer risk assessments, screenings, education and advanced treatment options. Gather your girlfriends and make plans to attend one of our Heart Truth speaking tour events in February to learn more. February is American Heart Month. There's no better time to listen to your heart.

Our speaker is Tracey Conway, an Emmy-award winning actress and comedienne. Minutes after filming her television show, Tracey literally dropped dead from sudden cardiac arrest. Her chances of survival were barely one in 20, but after six defibrillator shocks, paramedics brought her back to life. Her lively and poignant story will touch and inspire you.
