Talking about end-of-life issues can be difficult. Most of us would rather put it off, but the best time to do it is now, because it always seems too early, until it’s too late. Join us to hear from Dr. Lucy Kalanithi, widow of the late Dr. Paul Kalanithi, author of the New York Times best seller, When Breath Becomes Air. She will reflect on their journey as Paul became both a doctor and a patient facing a terminal illness at the age of 36. You’ll come away moved by their story and inspired to explore your own goals in living and dying well. The event, co-sponsored by Vidant Health and Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Free bus transportation will be available to the event, leaving from Vidant hospitals in Washington, Kenansville, Tarboro and Ahoskie. Separate registration is required to ride the bus:
Register to ride the bus from Vidant Beaufort Hospital, Washington.
Register to ride the bus from Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, Tarboro.
