Take a stand. Stand Up for ENC.
Sparked by the State Treasurer’s proposed cuts to State Health Plan reimbursements in 2018, Stand Up for ENC is an ongoing effort to protect access to the precious health care resources across eastern North Carolina. It is about collaboration and partnership in support of the millions of people who call our rural communities home.
As a not-for-profit organization, Vidant Health reinvests profits back into the system, which ultimately benefits the communities we serve. Especially with the second-largest rural population in the country — about 3.2 million people — significant cuts to our hospitals would be detrimental to the health and well-being of people across eastern North Carolina. These cuts would impact our efforts to provide essential clinical services with high-quality, accessible care, to recruit and retain top talent, and to train and support medical students, residents and fellows. Attacks against rural access to health care affect us all.
We applaud those who have engaged with Stand Up for ENC. Your stand is making a difference.
Stand Up for ENC
Dedicated to ENC
Vidant has been working for decades to deliver the highest quality of care for the people of eastern North Carolina. Historically, this region has been one of the most challenging health care markets in the United States, where poverty is a reality for so many in our communities.
We are taking this stand not only for Vidant Health and hospitals across the state, but even more so for the people of eastern North Carolina who need and deserve access to the high-quality care that we provide.
Dare County Employee Wellness Program
In Dare County, a partnership between the county, The Outer Banks Hospital, Vidant Health and MedCost created the Dare County Employee Wellness Program.
The program showed a quantitative impact on the Dare County employee population, with increases in preventive screenings such as mammograms and colonoscopies, as well as preventive health office visits, and decreases in avoidable emergency room encounters and inpatient medical admissions.
Greenville Employee Health Clinic
In the city of Greenville, an employee health clinic operated by Vidant Health helped to save more than $140,000 in health care costs — after just one year in operation. This partnership offers quality health care to city employees and families with no copays, encouraging people to seek care for minor illnesses before they become more severe and more costly.
