Ischemic Heart Disease
Over time, fatty deposits can build up in the aortic vessels in your heart. Blood flow becomes restricted and deprives your heart of oxygen. The result is ischemic heart disease (IHD).
Symptoms of ischemic heart disease include chest pain that can lead to stroke, arrhythmia and other heart conditions. Early detection and intervention are key to treating and IHD and reversing the effects of the disease.
Treatments
Ischemic heart disease can be treated successfully with lifestyle changes, medication and/or surgery. Reduce your risk by following a heart-healthy meal plan both low in fat and sodium. Exercise regularly, don't smoke and try to maintain a healthy body weight.
