NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY

Vidant Medical Center is excited to bring experienced and professional photographers from Bella Baby Photography into the hospital to capture your baby's first picture with a natural, artistic style. You will be offered a complimentary photo session that takes place right in your hospital room. Parents and siblings are also encouraged to participate to create a beautiful family experience.

Photos are edited into an online, custom slideshow for you to view shortly after your session. Afterwards, online viewing and ordering is password protected and only available to those with whom you choose to share your password. This is a great way to share the birth of your baby with family and friends. Online galleries will be available for 14 days after the photos are taken.

Tips and FAQ’s

  • Babies look beautiful when being held in their parents' arms or cuddled in one of their own baby blankets. Bring your favorite baby blanket from home to use in the photo shoot. A beautiful blanket can add texture, color and memories to your newborn's photo.
  • We love to include mom or dad's hands in our photos. Wear clear or neutral polish on the day of your shoot. We want your baby to be the focus of the photos.
  • Bring a solid black, brown or grey shirt for you to wear in photos. We may photograph your baby in your arms. These colors look great in both color and black and white prints.

How long is the photo shoot?

The photo shoot normally lasts 10-15 minutes.

When will my photo shoot take place?

We typically photograph all babies on their first full day at the hospital. Generally, we do not take photos on the day of discharge unless there is a medical reason for the delay.

Should we bring a special blanket?

We absolutely encourage you to bring a favorite baby blanket from home to use in the shoot. A beautiful blanket can add texture, color and memories to your newborn's photos.

How can I prepare for the shoot?

We love to include mom and dad's hands in our photos. Wear clear or neutral nail polish on the day of your shoot. Distracting jewelry should be removed. Your baby should be the focus of the photos. Bring a dark-colored shirt to wear in the photos. We may photograph your baby in your arms and solid/dark colors look great in both color and black-and-white prints.

My baby is in the NICU, can I still have a photo shoot?

Yes. Let your nurse know you are interested in Bella Baby pictures and sign the consent form. The session will be completed when the NICU nurse tells us the baby is ready for pictures.
