Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

If you are recovering from a heart attack, heart or lung disease, or recent surgery, the road ahead can look challenging. You may feel anxious about your health and be concerned about how you're going to manage life and get back to doing the things you love.

Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation is designed to get you moving in the right direction. We'll help you understand your condition and what you need to do to get better. You'll learn how to cope with your diagnosis, lower your risk of future problems and return to an active, productive life.

Our staff includes respiratory therapists, registered nurses, exercise professionals, dietitians and a medical director. The program provides communication to your doctors, as well as the chance to interact with other patients who share similar experiences. Most insurance companies will cover most, if not all, of our services.

Our programs focus on the following keys to healthy heart and lungs:

  • Exercise — customized exercise plan, including guidelines for exercising at home and after the program
  • Nutrition — well-balanced diet, weight management, nutrition assessments
  • Behavior modification — managing risk factors like smoking, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, diabetes and stress

Throughout your time in the program, you will be learning how to take care of yourself at home. One of the major goals of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation is preparing and equipping you to maintain your activity and healthy lifestyle changes after you complete the program.

Cardiovascular rehab can help control symptoms such as chest pain or shortness of breath, and it can stop or reverse damage to blood vessels. It focuses on improving your stamina and strength and getting you back to your usual activities. The goal of cardiovascular rehab is to help you live longer and avoid complications in the future.
