Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

If you are recovering from a heart attack, heart or lung disease, or recent surgery, the road ahead can look challenging. You may feel anxious about your health and be concerned about how you're going to manage life and get back to doing the things you love.

Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation is designed to get you moving in the right direction. We'll help you understand your medical problem and what you need to do to get better. Through supervised exercise, education and counseling, you'll learn how to cope with your condition, lower your risk of future problems and return to an active, productive life.

Cardiovascular rehab is for people who have had a heart attack, angina, bypass surgery and valve replacement or repair. It focuses on recovery and restoration of physical function and psychosocial well-being. Vidant Health has cardiovascular rehab programs in Greenville, Edenton and Ahoskie.

Pulmonary rehab helps patients who have chronic but stable lung disease recognize and control symptoms and manage conditions such as bronchitis, asthma, emphysema or COPD. The goal of pulmonary rehab is to control and alleviate the symptoms and complications of pulmonary disease and to teach participants how to achieve their highest level of independence and physical function. Individual treatment plans include education, exercise, breathing retraining and the development of coping and support skills. Vidant has pulmonary rehab programs in Greenville and Edenton.
