Mental Retardation/Mental Illness Dual Diagnosis

Locations throughout the Vidant Health region over services for patients with the dual diagnosis of mental retardation and mental illness (MI/IDD). Vidant Medical Center in Greenville is the only hospital in eastern North Carolina with a special unit devoted to the MI/IDD population.

Our experienced caregivers prepare clients to function in their communities. We work closely with community support teams to ensure continuity of care between the unit and the patients’ community setting. In many cases, our specialized treatment programs allow the patient to re-enter the community after a short stay in the hospital.
