Medically Indigent Assistance

Patients who incur catastrophic medical care bills may receive medically indigent assistance on balances over $5,000 and income over two hundred percent of the federal poverty guideline.

Collections Policies

Vidant Health (ECU Health) facilities are private, not-for-profit entities that treat all patients regardless of ability to pay. However, we also recognize that in order to continue providing medical services to the region, we must pursue collections for unresolved balances on patient bills.

Eligibility for Medicaid or Other Government Assistance

Our financial counselors can assist you in determining if you qualify for Medicaid and in applying for other government-assisted programs. Department of Social Services employees are on-site at some Vidant Health (ECU Health) facilities, and our financial counselors are available upon request during or following the time you receive care.

Eligibility for Charity Care

Vidant Health (ECU Health) offers charity care to our patients who are unable to pay due to financial hardships.
