Pediatric Day Medical Unit (PDAY)

At the PDAY waiting area a smiling face is always waiting to greet you along with fish tanks and an interactive wall to make your child feel comfortable during their visit.

Individual rooms and dedicated nursing and child life staff ensure your child has everything they need during their appointment.

Kid-focused staff become family to many of our patients who visit PDAY often making their experience less scary and fun despite the circumstances.

PDAY leverages virtual reality often to reduce fear and reduce the need for medications during procedures.

Frequently treating pediatric cancer in the PDAY space, these patients become family and there is no greater celebration than ringing the End of Treatment bell in PDAY

The dedicated PDAY care team provides exceptional pediatric focused care with team members trained in pediatric sedation, pediatric infusion and pediatric chemotherapy. You child will interact with the team members during their treatments and often diversion therapy techniques are leveraged by both nursing and child life staff to ensure a pleasant experience during their visit.

Children’s Emergency Department

The Children's Emergency Department cares for children's of all ages in a child friendly environment.

While an emergency visit is scary, our teams are highly-trained in pediatric care and will ensure your child has everything they need during their visit.

As a Level II pediatric trauma center, our dedicated children’s emergency department can care for the most complex injury or illness for newborns to teenagers. With 16 beds, our team of pediatric emergency medicine physicians and clinicians is available to you and your family 24/7 for a broad range of emergency conditions, including dental, eye, cardiac, orthopedic, traumatic injury and more.

Pediatric Radiology

The pediatric radiology space includes dedicated pediatric radiology experts focused on the care of children.

Child Life specialists will remain with your child to help reduce fear and ensure a good imaging session.

Diversion therapy is leveraged to assist with your child keeping still during the procedure

The nurses and technicians are highly skilled in pediatric imaging techniques to ensure quality scans.

Our team will work to ensure your child feels safe and comfortable during their procedure.

When your child or teen needs diagnostic imaging — including X-rays, ultrasound, MRI, CT scan or fluoroscopy, our Children’s Radiology area features procedure rooms with not only the latest technologies but also diversion experiences. Using visuals, color and sound, the sensory environment chosen by your child helps with distraction and coping during procedures. Child Life specialists are also available to help children and families cope with the anxieties and fears associated with these procedures.

Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU)

The ASU provides surgical care in a child-friendly environment with pediatric trained staff.

Our staff are highly trained in pediatric surgery and will ensure your child has a successful pre and post-operative period.

The child-friendly environment includes a dedicated playroom to reduce fear preoperatively.

Child Life Specialists are dedicated to the surgical area to help reduce your child's fear and explain what to expect during surgery.

Surgery can be very scary for children, taking their mind off of the wait and making the experience fun, along with providing high quality care, are the primary goals during your child's stay.

When your child’s care requires an outpatient surgical procedure, we aim to make the process as easy, comfortable and family friendly as possible. Pre- and post-operative care can happen in ASU or PDAY. Our pediatric surgeons use the most appropriate surgical methods and minimally invasive approaches that are right for your child. Child Life Specialists are also available to assist your child in reducing fear during the pre- and post-operative period.
