WASHINGTON, NC – Vidant Women’s Care-Washington, 1210 Brown St. and The Outer Banks Women’s Clinic – Nags Head received the Mother-Baby award for outpatient health care clinics from the North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition (NCBC).

Awardees represent the best the state has to offer in terms of support for the breastfeeding family. These practices join a growing number of recipients committed to evidence-based, high-quality breastfeeding support.

In order to earn this achievement, practices must complete advanced education in lactation support, provide quality patient education to ensure that mothers achieve their infant feeding goals, eliminate all advertising from infant formula manufacturers’ and ensure their patients have access to breastfeeding support in the community.

“The quality care we provide to our patients at Vidant is the result of collaboration and teamwork of all the Vidant entities,” said Dan Drake, senior vice president of operations for VMG. “One of our most precious resources, the children in our community, deserve nothing less than excellence from the hospital to the doctor’s office to home. The Mother-Baby Care Award is an honor, recognizing our commitment and continuous teamwork to provide quality care to mothers, babies and our community.”

“Receiving this award is an honor and privilege,” said Lynne Miles, administrator, The Outer Banks Medical Group. “Our goal is to provide high quality, compassionate care and our team cannot think of a more wonderful place to start than with our new moms and babies. We appreciate the trust our community has in us and are excited to be a part of this initiative.”
