GREENVILLE – Vidant Medical Center (VMC) was again among the top hospitals in the country that earned an “A” from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Group for spring, 2017. New Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, which assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide and provide the most complete picture of patient safety in the U.S., were announced today by The Leapfrog Group.

“We are committed to pursue excellence in the quality of care rendered to our patients and families” said Brian Floyd, president, VMC. “This recognition highlights the continuous improvement on our voyage to excellence by all of our doctors, nurses, providers and team members.”

Developed under the guidance of an expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

“We focus every day on best practices to assure our patients receive the highest quality of care,” said Teresa Anderson, vice president, quality, VMC. “We want the best outcomes for our patients and families.”

In addition to VMC, three other Vidant Hospitals also received an “A” - Vidant Beaufort, Vidant Duplin and Vidant Edgecombe.
