Vidant Healthplex opens in Wilson

November 01, 2018 posted by Erica Mizelle

Wilson, N.C. – It’s a modern, innovative and comprehensive resource for the Wilson community. The new, state-of-the-art Vidant Healthplex-Wilson expands access to convenient, high quality and affordable care, while helping keep that care close to home.

“We are delighted to bring the best of what Vidant has to offer to Wilson,” said Todd Hickey, chief clinical network development officer for Vidant Health. “We designed the building using best practices in patient care from across the country, in order to meet the needs of this great community.”

The layout of the 30,965-square-foot-facility helps minimize wait time; improves provider and patient interaction; offers opportunities for patient education; and allows for an expanded schedule, with providers available seven days a week.

“This is in keeping with our mission to improve the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina,” said Dan Drake, PhD, RN, senior vice president of operations for Vidant Medical Group and president of Vidant Home Health and Hospice. “We already care for patients from Wilson and the surrounding community. Opening this new building enables us to meet people where they are, and to make access to high quality care as easy as possible. We look forward to continuing to serve this great community.”

The $14 million building will house 15 full-time providers and approximately 45 team members, with most roles filled by local candidates.

“This is care provided by this community for this community,” said Sunny Darji, MD, medical director, Vidant Healthplex-Wilson. “We’ve filled a majority of available positions with qualified candidates from Wilson and the surrounding area, recognizing that people who consider this area home are uniquely positioned to understand the health care needs here.”

Vidant Healthplex-Wilson services include primary care and immediate care, cardiology, neurology, pulmonology, retail pharmacy, moderate complexity lab, digital x-ray, ultrasound, echo, EKG and EMG, as well as health education and lifestyle support.
