Greenville, N.C. – After conducting a national search, Vidant Health is pleased to announce that Gail Madison-Brown, RN, JD, CHC, CPHQ, has been named Vidant Health’s Chief Compliance Officer, effective Sept. 4.

“Gail’s personal attributes align perfectly with Vidant’s values; she holds integrity, accountability and safety to their upmost importance,” said Dr. Michael Waldrum, CEO, Vidant Health. “Gail, in partnership with the Vidant Audit and Compliance team, will ensure we are meeting government standards and our organizational commitment of protecting patient and team member information.”

In her role, Gail will provide executive support and oversight to the Audit and Compliance team and ensure Vidant’s compliance strategies, processes and policies are aligned with the organization’s strategic vision of operational, clinical and service excellence.

“I am honored by the opportunity to serve Vidant in this role,” said Madison-Brown. “I will lean on my extensive experience in health care compliance and privacy, as well as my training as a nurse, as I lead the organization in this space. It will be my privilege to support the great teams already engaged in this important work.”

In her most recent role as the Chief Compliance Officer with the University of Texas Health in San Antonio, Texas, Gail has proven expertise in strategic oversight for organization-wide compliance and privacy programs. Her experience includes monitoring, auditing and evaluating procedures and practices, conducting organization-wide investigations, and developing and implementing a centralized clinical trials office.

“Patients and families depend on us for care—and to keep their information safe. I take that responsibility very seriously,” said Madison-Brown. “Vidant’s mission to improve the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina depends on every one of us.”

Madison-Brown earned her Juris Doctor degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, now Texas A&M University School of Law, and holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Texas. Gail also served in the United States Army National Guard.
