July 08, 2016 posted by Amy Holcombe

GREENVILLE – Vidant Home Health and Hospice is now offering two new support groups for people experiencing grief and bereavement; Pathways to Hope and Living on After Loss.

Pathways to Hope is an ongoing monthly bereavement support group with no start or end date for people who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The loss may include the death of a friend, sibling, parent, spouse or child. Different topics are discussed each month.

Living on After Loss provides a safe place to learn, understand and cope with loss. The goal is to assist people on their journey towards healing. A small group meets once a week for eight weeks. The first two sessions focus on basic information about the grieving process, reactions to loss and coping strategies. The remaining six sessions provide structured support to help identify the feelings and physical effects of loss, provide awareness of the grieving process, help redefine oneself and promote awareness of potential support systems.

Pathways to Hope meets the second Tuesday of every month from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Vidant Wellness Center, located at 2610 Stantonsburg Road in Greenville. Living on After Loss meets Thursday, Sept. 29 - Thursday, Nov. 17 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at the McConnell-Raab American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, located at 930 Wellness Drive in Greenville. Seats are limited, so preregistration is required.

These programs are provided to the community by Vidant Home Health and Hospice and are free for individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one. For further information or to register call (252) 847-8405.
