Greenville, N.C. – Shauna M. Everett (pictured left) and Barbara J. Connold (pictured right), nurse practitioners, have joined the Palliative Care service at Vidant Medical Center and at the Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice.

Palliative care is specialized medical care for people with a serious illness. The focus is on providing relief from symptoms and stress while improving the quality of life for the patient and family. As nurse practitioners, Ms. Everett and Ms. Connold work with fellow Palliative Care team members and a patient’s other doctors to provide personalized support.

The team is led by Drs. Tae Lee, medical director, and Qing Cao, associate medical director.

Ms. Everett earned a master’s degree in nursing at East Carolina University, in addition to her nurse practitioner certification. “I am so excited to be a part of such an amazing team with an extraordinary reputation for excellence, kindness and compassion,” Ms. Everett said. “It is truly an honor to serve alongside them.”

Ms. Connold earned a master’s degree in nursing from Barry University in Miami, Fla., in addition to her nurse practitioner certification. “Dr. Lee and the Palliative Care service have an excellent reputation as caring and compassionate clinicians,” Ms. Connold said. “I feel privileged to be part of the team.”
