Washington, N.C. – Judy Smithwick has completed her training and certification as a nurse practitioner specializing in women’s health. This new credential expands her scope of practice at both offices of Vidant Women’s Care in Washington.

Mrs. Smithwick recently earned her master’s in nursing at University of South Alabama in Mobile, where she also completed her nurse practitioner degree. She specializes in maternity care, gestational diabetes, contraception and menopause.

“I enjoy the challenges a pregnancy can present and being able to assure women that we are able to provide them the best care possible,” Mrs. Smithwick said. “I also enjoy teaching the importance of Pap tests, explaining contraceptive options and helping women transition through menopause.”

Mrs. Smithwick has nearly three decades of nursing experience, including Vidant Beaufort Hospital and at both women’s care offices in Washington, caring for generations of local women.
