Fifth annual Tree of Love ceremony honors lives of loved ones

February 01, 2013 by Barbara Dunn

GREENVILLE—The Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice is encouraging everyone to “have a heart” by participating in a celebration of life.

The Tree of Love Celebration of Life program is intended for any individual who wishes to honor and memorialize the lives of loved ones. Each donation of $5 buys a heart that is placed on a tree inside the inpatient hospice building to remember precious moments spent with a special someone.

Contributions raised from the Tree of Love will be used to establish patient-oriented programs, such as massage and touch therapy and other creative bereavement programs.

All donations are tax-deductible, and there is no limit on the number of donations one can make. The Tree of Love program is not limited to those who have been in hospice care, and also is a chance to honor or remember any loved ones close to heart.

The Tree of Love Celebration of Life will also host a special event on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. Dr. Dean Patton, inpatient hospice medical director, will offer brief remarks, and guests may tour the facility at their leisure. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, please contact Nancy Leggett at 252-847-1231.
