Dr. Ricardo Cortez joins Vidant Neurosurgery-Goldsboro

GREENVILLE-Dr. Ricardo Cortez, a board certified neurosurgeon, joined Vidant Neurosurgery-Goldsboro located at 625 Country Day Rd., on Oct. 5.

Dr. Cortez graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a spine surgery fellowship at the University of Miami. He served in the United States Army at Brooke Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas and completed a deployment in Iraq as a medical surgeon. His areas of interest include spinal cord injury, spinal fractures, minimally invasive spine surgery, and brain and spinal column tumors. 

“I am very excited to join Vidant Health. I know North Carolina well from both my military service and my medical training and I am honored to be able to serve its citizens once again,” said Dr. Cortez. “I believe the decision for surgery should be a joint decision between surgeon and patient and I pride myself on tailoring a treatment plan based upon your specific problem.”
