Vidant Health announces Board Quality Leadership Award winners

Greenville, N.C. –  The Vidant Health Board of Directors recently announced the recipients of the 2018 Board Quality Leadership Award.

The winning teams represent excellence across the system and serve as models for exceptional care and experiences for every patient served. The board selected one winner from each of the following groups: Vidant Medical Center, Vidant Community Hospitals and the ambulatory setting.

“It is our honor to recognize the outstanding teams who role model improving the care our patients receive,” said Byrant Kittrell, chairman, Vidant Health Board of Directors. “They are leading the way in providing incredible care for the communities we serve.”

The winning teams include:

  1. Vidant Medical Center: Surgical Intermediate Unit reduced the occurrences of blood clots to zero. 
  2. Vidant Community Hospitals: Vidant Duplin Hospital improved stroke care outcomes. 
  3. For the ambulatory setting: Vidant Endoscopy Center—Tarboro eliminated barriers for patients who have concerns with keeping their scheduled appointments.

“I’m delighted the board pays tribute to the incredible work performed each day by our dedicated team members,” said Joan Wynn, PhD, chief quality officer for Vidant Health. “The winning teams demonstrate a commitment to our values and mission of improving the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina.”

Winners were honored at the May 22 Vidant Health Board meeting with a plaque, board resolution and a scholarship to attend a national educational conference.
