22nd annual Children’s Miracle Network radiothon

March 13, 2019 posted by Communications

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Radio listeners will once again be offered the chance to help hospitalized children during the 22nd  annual “Music for Miracles” radiothon March 14-15 on 107.9 WNCT. This year’s radiothon will expand to include all of the Inner Banks Media radio stations. In addition to 107.9, these include: 103.7 WTIB (Talk of the Town); 96.3 WRHT The New Talk; Groovin’ Oldies 94.1 and 97.9; and 94.3 The Game.

The two-day radio marathon raises money to benefit the programs and services of Maynard Children’s Hospital which includes pediatric inpatient and outpatient visits from a 29-county region in eastern North Carolina. One hundred percent of the funds raised by our Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) program directly supports programs and services of Maynard Children’s Hospital.

“We could not be happier to once again partner with CMN and offer this year’s radiothon on nearly all of our IBX Media stations,” said Henry Hinton, president, Inner Banks Media.  “What happens at the James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital is a blessing to all of us in eastern North Carolina, and we want to do all we can to help support its mission.”

In 1998, the first radiothon raised $5,400. Thanks to the loyal listeners of 107.9 and the dedicated radio staff and personalities, the event has raised more than $3.4 million to date. At Maynard Children’s Hospital, these funds have been used to purchase life-saving medical equipment and diversionary items for kids, provide team member and patient education, as well as to help build new facilities.

“We are so incredibly grateful to 107.9 WNCT for opening their station (and airways) to us for the past 22 years,” said Rhonda James, director of development, Maynard Children’s Hospital. “Year after year, the 107.9 team helps us to share the stories of former patients who have experienced the care of Maynard Children’s Hospital and to ask their loyal listeners to call in their pledges to support sick and injured children here in eastern North Carolina. Now, having this partnership with Inner Banks Media and the ability to expand our reach to its partner stations means so much to us.”

For the second year in a row, the entire 24 hours of the radiothon will be broadcast live from the Maynard Children’s Hospital on the Vidant Medical Center campus in Greenville. 107.9 will be live from 6 a.m.- 6 p.m. both Thursday and Friday, with the other stations broadcasting intermittently throughout the two days.

Children’s Miracle Network is a fundraising program of the Vidant Health Foundation. Maynard Children’s Hospital in Greenville serves children and their families living throughout a 29-county region in eastern North Carolina.
