Dr. James Speicher is a thoracic surgeon at the East Carolina Heart Institute, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions like lung cancer, esophageal cancer, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), achalasia, paraesophageal hernia, tracheal disease and mediastinal disease.

After receiving his medical degree from the University of Kansas at Wichita School of Medicine, Dr. Speicher went on to complete a residency in General Surgery at the University of Missouri at Columbia School of Medicine and a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
When he's not at work, Dr. Speicher enjoys spending quality time with his wife and children, exercising, and playing the guitar.
