About Marielle M. Silk, FNP

Marielle Silk, FNP, BC, came to the Outer Banks originally in 2010. She left for a few years after having her first child, and then moved back permanently in 2016. Silk has a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Wesleyan University in Connecticut, a Bachelor of Science degree from the New York University College of Nursing and Master of Science degree in nursing from Yale University. She worked in the child protective services field prior to becoming a nurse.

More recently, Silk obtained a Plant-Based Nutrition certification through Cornell University and is certified as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist through the Mayo Clinic. Along with being a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Silk achieved board certification in lifestyle medicine.

A provider at The Outer Banks Hospital Center for Healthy Living, Silk is passionate about plant-based nutrition and lifestyle medicine. One of her favorite quotes is from Ann Wigmore: “The food you eat can either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.”

The center provides all forms of lifestyle and integrative medicine. It assists patients with chronic disease navigation, tobacco cessation, health coaching, counseling, nutrition services and wellness. Silk’s office is located in Suite 270 of the Medical Office Building behind the hospital.

Silk is married and has two children and two dogs who keep her busy. She has a love for the beach, hiking, yoga and stand-up paddle boarding.

Quoting Gandhi, Silk advises, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
