Know when to visit a Vidant Emergency Department

Knowing when to visit the Emergency Department versus when you can use some of the other quality care options Vidant Health offers is half the battle. If you are experiencing any of the following, it is time to visit your closest Vidant Emergency Room or call 9-1-1:

  • Broken bone
  • Chest pain
  • Drug/alcohol overdose
  • Poisoning
  • Seizure
  • Serious burns
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Stroke
  • Sudden dizziness
  • Trouble breathing

Vidant offers 24/7 Emergency Departments at each of our nine hospitals and a separate Children’s Emergency Department at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, specializing in emergency care for those under the age of 18.

Some emergencies require advanced specialty care. We are fortunate in eastern North Carolina to have quick access to a Level I Adult Trauma Center and a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

    • At Vidant Health, we are committed to providing the highest quality service to patients regardless of health insurance coverage
  • Emergency contact information
  • Items that you may need while away from home for a few hours, like a phone charger
  • Make staff aware of any medications you are prescribed, your medical history and any allergies you may have

When not to visit a Vidant Emergency Department
