Employee Assistance Program FAQs

The ECU Health Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers confidential counseling with a licensed, master’s-level behavioral health professional near your place of work, residence, or via web.

All employees and their benefit-eligible family members (spouses and children under the age of 26) can receive EAP services.

Employees are eligible for up to 6 (employer dependent) free counseling sessions per issue, per rolling year. If additional counseling is needed, a referral to a counselor who accepts the client’s insurance can be provided.

All services provided by EAP are confidential to the fullest extent permitted by law. No information will be disclosed unless the client signs a release of information. All records are kept separate from medical and employment records.

Virtual counseling allows clients to engage in a counseling session from a location of their choosing within North Carolina. This reduces barriers such as transportation issues, time constraints & lack of childcare, as well as increases privacy.

Virtual counseling uses an online platform through your smartphone or desktop/laptop with web cam to connect you with a counselor in our main office in Greenville. At the time or your appointment, all you need to do is click on the link we send to your email.

Legal & Financial Services
Employees and benefit-eligible family members are entitled to a free 30-minute consultation per legal matter and 25% discount if they continue with the attorney. Additionally, employees are able to receive a free 30 minute phone consultation per financial issue.

Well-being Seminars (live & by WebEx)

Critical Incident Response
After a natural disaster, employee death or other significant disruptive event, EAP provides support and guidance to managers and their team members, and when appropriate, on-site groups to empower team members, encourage resilience and refer to additional counseling if necessary.

Well-being consultations
This is an opportunity for all employees to speak with an Employee Assistance Program professional about the conditions, activities and protective factors that contribute to your overall well-being. You will be able to discuss your current strengths and potential steps to take to enhance protective factors, self-care and work life balance.
