In today’s environment, no one wants to leave the comfort and safety of their home. At Vidant we understand and want to ensure you have access to care when and where you need it. With Vidant Virtual, we have you covered. Vidant Virtual offers several options to connect you to the care you need.  Vidant Virtual options include telephone and video calls with your provider, MyChart e-visits and VidantNow for all your after hours, non-emergent needs.

Telephone and video appointments

Vidant Virtual also allows you to conveniently connect directly with your provider through telephonic and video appointments for appointments that do not require a physical exam.  To set up a virtual telephone or video appointment; contact your provider’s office and ask to schedule a virtual appointment.  A virtual appointment last the same length of time as an in person appointment and the same amount of insurance copay is required. 

You will receive an email confirmation detailing the information you will need in order to participate in a virtual appointment.  Your provider may opt to call you at the number you provide for a telephonic appointment. If you scheduled a virtual video appointment; then you will receive a confirmation email with a link that will connect you to a virtual room. 

Preparing for your Vidant Virtual appointment

Before your appointment, download the apps you need in advance and make sure you can you use them correctly.  Vidant Health recommends utilizing Vidant MyChart for Vidant Virtual appointments.

Use headphones, if possible

The use of headphones may improve sound quality and allow you to hear your provider more clearly.

If you lose connection during your virtual appointment

Please wait 5 minutes for your provider to call you again or send you a new web link to join a video call. If you do not hear back from your provider within 5 minutes, then please call our health care provider’s office.

Vidant MyChart  online access to your health records

Connecting with a Vidant Health provider is now easier through Vidant MyChart. Our secure, online patient portal which allows you to view your personal information, connect with your health care team, request appointments, track your health, pay bills and access lab results. It’s free, confidential and available 24/7.  If your care has been provided by a Vidant Health hospital or participating clinic of Vidant Medical Group or ECU® Physicians, you’re eligible for a MyChart account. If you are new to Vidant Health, you must have a scheduled appointment or make an appointment with your health care team before signing up.

E-visits  send a message to a provider or care team through Vidant MyChart

If you have been seen by a Vidant Health provider within the past 12 months and have a MyChart

account, you can initiate an e-visit.  An e-visit is a secure, inexpensive and convenient way to communicate with your provider about certain non-urgent conditions and receive a response within one business day. It costs $15 per visit.

  • Cough
  • Sinus problems
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Conjunctivitis (Pink eye)
  • Back pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Heartburn
  • Vaginal discharge/irritation

Simply log on to MyChart and select ‘e-visits’ under the ‘Messaging’ menu. You’ll be asked to select a chief complaint, provider and pharmacy as well as enter demographic information, allergies and medications. After answering questions about your symptoms, your e-visit will be sent to your provider to review. For urgent needs, call your provider.

What system requirements do I need for VidantNow video conferencing?

To use video conferencing you need:

  • Windows®7, Vista, or XP
  • A Mac running OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard)or superior.
  • High-speed internet connection
  • A webcam with at least 1.3 megapixels
  • Microphone (most webcams already have microphone built in)

Can a provider prescribe medication as part of a VidantNow visit?

Yes, if the VidantNow provider believes medication is warranted, he or she can write a prescription for non-narcotic medications (i.e. no controlled substances). As soon as your consultation is over, your prescription will be sent electronically to one of over 65,000 pharmacies to choose from. If for any reason your pharmacy is unable to receive e-prescriptions, a traditional prescription is generated for our providers to sign and fax. All prescriptions are fully compliant and include all required information.

Who are the VidantNow providers?

All VidantNow providers are NC licensed and able to treat a wide range of patients and conditions.

Following each consultation, our members are given a survey to evaluate their provider and appointment. The results are analyzed and reviewed for quality assurance and used as part of our continuous improvement process. Selected provider consultations are also reviewed by our Internal medical board. Patients must be over the age of 18 to qualify for using VidantNow.
