support after the storm

On the way to recovery in eastern North Carolina

coping with stress

Hurricane Florence brought devastation to much of eastern North Carolina. Thousands of people in our communities, especially in and around Duplin County, will continue to experience the storm's impact for a long time. The tremendous losses include prized personal possessions, homes, jobs and much more. Some of our neighbors have even lost family members and friends.

At Vidant Health, our mission is to improve the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina. We know that natural disasters like Hurricane Florence rob us of more than physical belongings and creature comforts like electricity — they also take away peace of mind and the emotional stability that comes from our normal daily routine. Survivors of the storm will experience a wide range of emotions, including depression and anxiety. The accompanying stress can show up in a variety of physical ways as well — changes in sleep or appetite, loss of energy, headaches, digestive problems and more.

If you've been affected by the storm, we want you to know that we're here to help support you in the recovery process. We have set up special clinics to provide counseling appointments to anyone who is experiencing symptoms such as depression, grief or anxiety. We invite you to reach out to the location nearest you today for an appointment.
