Vidant Beaufort Hospital offers a variety of behavioral health care services to meet the needs in our community. We compassionately evaluate, diagnose and treat patients who suffer from a number of conditions and concerns. From medication management to crisis stabilization we specialize in personalized treatment to heal both the body and mind.
Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit
Inpatient Behavioral Health, a 22-bed unit at Vidant Beaufort Hospital is an adult psychiatric inpatient unit that provides for the emotional and physical well being of each patient. The staff, led by an experienced board-certified psychiatrist, consists of experienced nurses, clinical social workers, therapists, and other clinical staff. Each patient receives a personalized treatment plan and can enter a comprehensive treatment program, often involving family and community-based services. The Behavioral Health Unit offers seven-day programming, diagnostic assessments and evaluations, individual and group therapies, recreational therapies, patient and family education, discharge and referral planning, and observational services.

The Vidant Behavioral Crisis Center, a nine bed acute care facility, understands that some mental and behavioral health needs may be immediate. The Crisis Center provides twenty-four hour a day mental health/substance abuse crisis services for any adult needing these services by qualified personnel. We provide services for individuals withdrawing from alcohol and/or other drugs, those in need of mental health/psychiatric stability, or a combination of both. Persons needing this service may be referred from a health care provider or as a walk-in client. This service provides an alternative to hospitalization for adults who have a mental illness or substance abuse disorder.

Outpatient Behavioral Health
Vidant Behavioral Health consists of six adult and child psychiatric outpatient clinics. The staff includes seven psychiatrists, one psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, three social workers and experienced nurses. This team of professionals offers medication management, therapy and comprehensive, manageable and evidenced-based treatment for patients who struggle with substance abuse and dependence.
